Kate Jackson - Social Documentary Photographer

Kate is an aspiring photographer and community artist. Her work concentrates mainly on the people, the community and the environment around her.

Her latest project 'left, right, left'  celebrates diversity within dance. Working closely with dancers in the West Midlands it gives an insight into dance groups and individuals, from those who are performing or learning to those who are doing it simply for pleasure.

'Although I have had a camera in my hand since the age of 3, my first real experience of photography was when I did a placement at Jubilee Arts (a community arts organisation) I began to see how the camera became a really useful tool in being able to talk to people. To me its not just a single photograph its a journey that I undertake with the subject. The camera gives me permission to be an accepted part of peoples lives'
